Amaterasu Remake Work Log

Ammy was actually the second cosplay I ever made. It surely wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I had the feeling that my earlier version of Ammy didn't do her justice, so I decided to remake the whole costume with a new set of skills and nicer fabrics ♥ The only things that I ended up reusing from my old costume were the wig with the ears and the green necklace. Everything else is entirely new.

Since I was practically going to remake the entire cosplay, I decided to draw a new design as well. The design is really similar to my old one, but I did make a few changes: I added sleeves with Ammy's signature "wings", added a pleated red skirt instead of pants and added red markings on the shoulders. Additionally, I changed the design of the brush to make it look more like the brush in the game.
The headpiece was not a part of my concept art, but I thought that a Kanzashi Flower headpiece would look great with the wig, so I bought satin ribbons in white, red and gold to make the petals. I actually learned how to make Kanzashi petals from a number of video tutorials on Youtube. There are tons of tutorials online to teach you how to make Kanzashi petals, but keep in mind that this is a very long process, so better watch a movie or something while making them. Once I finished making the petals, I hot glued them to a hairpin and added some white beads to make it look extra fancy.
The skirt is just a simple pleated skirt. I cut out a long rectangle of my red fabric, pinned down the individual pleats and then ironed them down. Then I sewed down the top parts (~roughly 5cm) of the pleats so that they do not open when the skirt is being worn. I added the waistband and closed the skirt with a zipper and a hook in the back. Finally, I hemmed the bottom of the skirt with a rolled hem. If you want a detailed tutorial on how to make a pleated skirt, check out Kaika's tutorial, I think it's super helpful ♥
Yep, I know this is not really a kimono, but for the sake of simplicity, let's call it that :P I wouldn't know what else to call it, really. I actually did not have a pattern for the Kimono. I took an old shirt of mine and created my own pattern, always pinning it to my mannequin and trimming it until I was happy with the shape. Then I sewed it all together and added a collar. When that was done, I sewed some white fake fur and some red fabric along the collar. For the bottom part I simply cut a rectangle of my white fabric and sewed some fur and red fabric along the edges as well. The top part is closed with a piece of velcro so that nothing will slip and slide while wearing the costume. The bottom part was later sewn to the Obi. To hide my cleavage, I later added a piece of the same yellow fabric that I used for my Obi.
The Obi is just a long rectangle of red fabric with a pretty flower pattern that I closed with a velcro in the back. Then I tied a ribbon around it which I made of a light yellow embroidered fabric. And that's it.
For the sleeves I created a simple kimono sleeve pattern and added some red fabric on the one end, and some elastic ribbon on the other end to keep the sleeves from sliding off my arms. The "wings" are made of craft foam which I covered with white fake fur. The patterns are painted on with black fabric paint.
My Divine Retribution is made of a circular piece of PVC hardfoam board which makes a sturdy base for all the details. The details are made of craft foam and wooden hemispheres which were then glued to the PVC hardfoam base. The patterns are carved into the craft foam with a sharp pencil. Then I spray painted the whole thing dark green and glued on two fabric loops so that I could attach the whole thing to the yellow belt. For the flames I cut out several pieces of red, orange and yellow organza and attached it to the yellow belt as well.
Okay, this is where some of the pictures that I took of my working process somehow got lost, so I only have some pictures of the beginning of the working process and one picture of the end product. However, I'll try to describe the process as best as I can! The tip of the brush is made of a thick piece of dense styrofoam (in Germany the material is called Styrodur), which I shaped with a box cutter. When I was happy with the shape, I stuck it inside a PVC Pipe and secured it with a generous amount of super glue. Then I glued some white fur to the tip of the brush. To hide the transition at the top and to cover the hole at the bottom of the PVC pipe, I added pieces of Worbla to both the top and the bottom (these are the golden parts that you can see on my finished brush). Finally, I painted the whole thing, added the details to the tip of the brush with black fabric paint and sewed a cute red bow and attached it to the finished piece.

  1. Among the varied fictional characters of the phantasy world , let's discuss the 2 hottest women characters who are ruling the fictional arena. As these characters are extremely popular everywhere the planet , wearing a cosplay costume depicting them is every fan's goal for subsequent theme party or cosplay event that's lined up.
