Amaterasu Brush Tutorial

Materials
• Coardboard tube
• Plaster bandages
• Newspaper
• Craft foam
• Hot glue
• Acrylic paint (brown, gold, black)

Optional
• White fake fur
• Red fabric

I made my Celestial Brush out of cardboard because materials like wood are not always allowed inside convention halls. As a consequence, the brush is not as resistant, but if you handle it carefully, you should be completely fine ;)

First I took some newspaper and formed a brush-like shape, which I then stuffed into the cardboard tube. I also used some newspaper to make the end of the brush a bit rounder. I made the details on the base of the tip of the brush out of craft foam and glued them to the cardboard tube with hot glue.
Cardboard and newspaper aren't exactly durable materials, so I added some plaster bandages to strengthen the newspaper parts. To make sure that the brush is really dry before painting it, let it dry for at least a night before applying the acrylic paint.

When the brush is completely dry, you can paint it with some acrylic paint. It is best to put the brush on two boxes or something so that you can paint it all the way around.

At this point you're basically done, but I decided to cover the brush tip with some leftover fake fur. I glued the fur to the brush tip with hot glue and painted the tip with black fabric paint (you can also use acrylic paint for this). I also tied a little red bow between the golden embellishment and the brush tip.
